Accounting/Payroll Administrator


Position Summary:

Western Mechanical is seeking a full-time Accounting/Payroll Administrator at our head office in Barrie, ON. The Accounting/Payroll Administrator will provide administrative support for various payroll and accounting duties. We are seeking a driven, proactive, and ambitious individual to join our team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Payroll:

  • Assist with preparing and entering weekly, multiple union and non-union payroll.
  • Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data.
  • Update payroll records.
  • Assist with reporting and compiling summaries as required.
  • Assist with discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures; maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

Accounting/Office Duties:

  • Maintain equipment costs, by collecting data through payroll and accounts payable and preparing files for invoicing as required.
  • Maintain storage/warehouse customers, by collecting and reviewing square footage with items moving in and out of our warehouse for preparation of files for invoicing.
  • Assist with invoicing as required.
  • Reconciling purchases and expenses from company credit cards.
  • Support other member of the accounting team when required.

Requirements:

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize as well as ensure a high quality of work completed within an acceptable timeframe.
  • This role requires interaction with other internal departments. A high level of attention to detail is required, along with a desire to collaborate and assist other members within the organization.
  • Strong communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years in a related position/field
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Business Administration/Accounting
  • Payroll Administration Diploma
  • PCP Designation (an asset)
  • CPA Designation or working towards the designation (an asset)
  • Jonas Software (an asset)
  • MS Office, Excel
  • Quick Books ( an asset)

Term, Hours of Work and Compensation:

  • We expect to compensate the successful candidate at hourly rates consistent with market expectations and based on experience.
  • Benefits, GRSP, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available after probationary period.
  • Hours of work are 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm.
  • This is a full-time position, at our office in Barrie, Ontario.
  • The role is entitled to vacation pay and paid statutory holidays.
