Position Summary:
Western is seeking an ambitious Journeyperson Truck and Coach Technician (310T) to join our team of mechanics. The successful candidate will work in our industrial shop in Barrie, Ontario. They shall have the ability to prioritize ongoing projects and tasks to meet deadlines, with attention to detail and problem solving.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have previous experience that demonstrates their ability to accomplish tasks including, but not limited to:
- Repairs, preventative maintenance and annual certifications of Western owned heavy-duty highway tractor and specialty trailers.
- Engine repair, diagnostics, alignment, steering and suspension, brake system, hydraulic system, fuel and emissions, etc.
- Use diagnostic equipment to determine the source of mechanical problems.
- Develop accurate repair recommendations.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities adhere to Company, industry, and regulatory requirements and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and service according to Company procedures.
- Order parts and components for repairs.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience (required)
- Truck and Coach Technician - 310T Journeyperson (required)
- Ontario G Class driver's license (required)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with hydraulic service or installation
- Reliable team player
- Willingness to become certified to operate overhead cranes and forklifts
Term, Hours of Work and Compensation:
- This is a full-time position.
- 44 hours per week, day shift.
- Monday – Thursday 9 hours, and Friday 8 hours.
- The role is entitled to vacation pay and paid statutory holidays.
- We expect to compensate the successful candidate at hourly rates consistent with market expectations and based on experience.
